We won an award for re-inventing ourselves!

ABC Home Services was honored Friday, November 7 at the Conway Center for Family Business 16th Annual Family Business Awards Program and Expo with an award in the Re-Invention category. The award recognizes family businesses that have successfully adjusted their business strategy to address changing business and societal demands.

The Conway Center’s Family Business Awards Program was established in 1999 to recognize excellence in family business and has honored over 150 local family businesses throughout that time.

“It’s extremely important to recognize the accomplishments of Central Ohio’s family businesses,” said Dick Emens, executive director of the Conway Center for Family Business. “They’re the foundation of our community and a key contributor to a healthy and vibrant Central Ohio economy. We’re fortunate to have many great family-owned businesses in the Central Ohio region – we estimate at least 6,000 – and our 160+ members employ over 17,000 hard-working people in Central Ohio.”

Because of regulatory changes in 2008, ABC lost a significant portion of its revenues overnight. The company decided to leverage a product it was already offering that covers natural gas system repairs by introducing the ABC Home-SAFE Warranty. Due to the success of the new business model, warranty sales now account for nearly all of the company’s revenues. ABC Home Services President Tim Morbitzer commented, “After all of the uncertainty we faced, it’s great to see our team receive this recognition for being resourceful and agile, emerging as an even stronger company than before.”

The Family Business Awards Program was made possible through the support of: Columbus Business First, Commerce National Bank, Definity Partners, Fathom, Gryphon Financial Partners, Rider + Reinke Financial Group and Taft/.
