Getting Ready for the Snow

So, I know it’s probably a little early to be talking about heavy snow, but it’s important to know how a significant accumulation can affect your heating system. Many of the service requests we get for furnaces after heavy snowfalls involve high efficiency systems with outside vents blocked by snow. High efficiency furnaces vent to the exterior of the house with solid PVC piping. If that pipe gets blocked by snow, it causes the heat to shut off. Keeping that area clear during a deep snow will prevent an inconvenient no-heat situation!
